Shakespeare's classic play is transported in modern-day Melbourne, Australia, where a gangster named Macbeth (Sam Worthington) is fiercely loyal to his crime boss Duncan (Gary Sweet). However, the one who gets rewarded is Duncan's lazy son Malcolm (Matt Doran). So, in a vicious double-cross instigated by Lady Macbeth (Victoria Hill), Macbeth kills Duncan and tries to assume control of the entire crime family, mainly by killing off every rival he has.
