In 1975, a South Vietnamese man (Long Nguyen) stays in his country at the end of the civil war and is taken prisoner in a Communist re-education camp while his wife, son and mother get on a boat heading for America. Years later, the lonely prisoner finally hears that his family has made it safely across the Pacific and plots to escape and join them.
