Raya Green (Rutina Wesley) thinks she's escaped her bleak inner-city life by attending an exclusive private school. However, when her sister's stint in rehab and eventual death drains the family bank account, Raya is forced to come back home. Things aren't all terrible, though, when the quick-footed teen dives into the world of step dancing.
